Episode 6 Series Finale “The Last Watch”, Deaths and The Winner of the Throne

There’s nothing in the world more powerful than stories #GameOfThrones

73 episodes, 8 seasons and now it is all over. What are we going to do Sunday nights? We are completely overwhelmed by our feelings right now. Whether you loved or hated the last episode, we can all agree that this episode is one that we will never forget. From the tears we shed when we saw Jamie and Cersei (mostly Jamie) in the rubble, to the major heartbreak when we saw Jon killing our Queen, this episode made us extremely emotional with it’s rollercoaster ending.

The Mad Queen is Dead

We were very conflicted and emotional seeing how difficult a decision it was for Jon to stab Dany and it was made worse after seeing Drogon mourn his mother. Just like that the series came to it’s major conclusion and killed off the final major character. It proved to be quite a pivotal moment and one that we are sure will be controversial, but that is how it was intended to be. After all the madness cleared, we were brought back to a council where Bran the Broken, aka the boy who lived (Harry Potter anyone?) was voted King. He became the winner of the Throne and the chosen ruler of most of Westeros. There is no more physical Iron Throne thanks to Drogon, luckily our new King brought his own chair. Bran the King was quick to elect Tyrion as his hand and also handed out many positions of power to our favorite characters. Sansa was able to keep the North as a separate kingdom and will rule the north. Arya seems to be doing her own thing and is off to many adventures exploring the world. Greyworm took his armies and the Dorthraki on a ship, seemingly attempting to continue Dany’s mission to free more slaves. Then to conclude the series, we got to see Jon back at the wall resuming his watch and leading the Northfolk alongside Tormund. More importantly he petted Ghost and we finally forgave Jon for his earlier dismissal of his poor direwolf. With that our show came to and end, and our watch also ended.

DEATH LIST EPISODE 6

Who Took The Throne?

  • Bran Stark – “All hail Bran the Broken, first of his name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Six Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm.”

Disclaimer: Due to the fact that the North split off to become its own kingdom once again, one could argue that it should be split into Bran and Sansa. However, after careful consideration, we agreed that the throne represented the ruler of majority of Westeros, and therefore is the one that was chosen by the council.

Episode 5  “The Last War”

“Every time a new GOT episode is released, the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land.” Well before it landed it was melted by dragon fire. We definitely got the death and destruction we were looking for in the earlier episodes. Mostly in the form of the complete and total annihilation of King’s Landing. Though the last war is over, we are more at turmoil with the decisions our favorite characters have made.  One episode left, lots of stuff to wrap up!

DEATH LIST EPISODE 5

  • Varys
  • Euron Greyjoy
  • Qyburn
  • The Hound
  • The Mountain
  • Jaime and Cersei (assumed crushed under the castle) Confirmed Final Episode

Episode 4  “The Last of the Starks”

To the victor goes the spoils, unfortunately our heroes only got heartbreaks, sadness, and death. Let’s start with the heartbreak. After an emotional funeral, and a lame victory party we instantly felt bad for our boys Gendry and Tormund Giantsbane for being dumped and heartbroken by the best girls in the North. We saw Arya’s rejection coming though, because she has never wanted to be a lady. However, no matter what poor Tormund tried, he was never ever able to get through to Ser Brienne. Brienne got lucky though.

Now on to the sadness, why did Jon Snow not pet Ghost goodbye!!!! The poor little puppy survived last week to our relief, but wouldn’t even get a proper goodbye petting. That was truly sad, and made us quite mad at Jon Snow for it. Also the anger keeps building up because Jon Snow is an idiot, but he is an honorable idiot. He is not capable of keeping a secret for the good of the kingdom nor for the love of his life. Not cool Jon, not cool. This will definitely bite him in the rear soon. Finally death is back, and this time it took poor Rhaegal just as he was getting back on his wings. Can we point out how dumb our heroes have gotten though? They are the worst at planning and at fighting wars. How did no one see all those ships on the horizon, or why couldn’t they send a scout? This is war, you got to be smart! Cersei is being smart and it is working wonders for her, she truly is very smart but uses her brain for evil. Which is why we ended the episode knowing Cersei can’t be redeemed and that we won’t forget her for needlessly killing Missandei.

Only two episodes remain, the end is near. Dracarys!

DEATH LIST

  • Rhaegal the Dragon
  • Missandei

Episode 3 – Battle of Winterfell Results

The Great War has ended, the Last War is about to begin. In a gripping and death packed episode, we lost quite a few good characters. The episode proved to be very dark, both literally and figuratively, and suspenseful all the way to the last few seconds with our girl Arya coming in to save the North and killing the Night King! Unfortunately, many people died, an insane amount of soldiers did, but here is the list of the main ones from our bracket:

Correction

  • Ghost (Direwolf) is alive!
    • It was brought to our attention by some eagle eyed fans that Ghost has been spotted in next weeks episode teaser. So it turns out he is alive! Thank the Lord of Light and to our fan David C. for being the first to notify us.

DEATH LIST

  • Eddison Tollet
  • Lyanna Mormont
  • Beric Dondarion
  • Theon Greyjoy
  • Jorah Mormont
  • Night King (YAY!)

Episode 2 Results

Episode 2 has come and gone and it was by far one of the most realistic portrayals of what would happen before a major battle. There was a lot of touching moments and attempts from all characters trying to understand each other. It almost felt as if they were trying to make amends before their inevitable death. While this was another slow episode, if furthered the story line and gave us a deeper connection with our characters. Now comes the bloodshed and Episode 3 will feature the longest episode in Game of Thrones history, running at 82 minutes long. There is no more time to sit around the fire, war is here, and unfortunately that means death for our favorite characters.

Episode 1 Results

Did you catch episode 1? There was so much…setup. In our first visit back into Westeros and Winterfell in over a year and a half the first episode spent the entire time recapping the last season. In an odd turn off events, no one died at all. Well at least from our list. In fact it was pretty anti-climactic. However, there are only 5 episodes left now so now the stakes are even higher.

  • No One From Our List …Yay?
